New legislation in Western Australia makes the Responsible Service of Alcohol course compulsory for anybody involved in the sale or supply of alcohol on a licensed premises. This includes all staff of bottleshops. All staff who were employed at a licensed premises on 7 May 2007 will have until 7 May 2008 to comply with these training requirements. New staff employed at a licensed premises after 7 May 2007 will have four weeks from commencing employment at a licensed premises to complete this training.
This 6 hour course is for all individuals who intend to serve
patrons in a licensed venue in Western Australia.
On successful completion of the course, you will have
met the following unit: Provide Responsible Service
of Alcohol THHBFB09B, under the Australian Quality
Training Framework.
Course Summary
This course deals with the skills and knowledge
requirements for responsible service of alcohol under
State/Territory legislation. All staff involved in the
service of alcohol should complete this unit. The areas
covered include:
- Objectives of the Act
- Obligations under the Act
- Offences and penalties
- Identification of customers to whom service must/may
be refused in accordance with state regulations
- Acceptable proof of age identification
- Standard drinks
- Service of alcoholic beverages
responsibly
- Assisting customers to drink within appropriate
limits
- Recognising signs of intoxication
- Refusal of service
- Assisting alcohol affected customers
Upon successful completion of
this course participants receive a Statement of
Attainment for “Responsible Service of Alcohol”
THHBFB09B as part of Certificate II in Hospitality
Operations.
