This Cert II in Hospitality course reflects the role of individuals who have a range of hospitality operational skills and industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine tasks and work under direct supervision.
The Cert II in Hospitality course provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
Possible job titles include:
- bar attendant
- café attendant
- catering assistant
- food and beverage attendant
- front office assistant
- room attendant
Through this Cert II in Hospitality, students have the opportunity to learn the different aspects of Hospitality, then take that knowledge into the workplace to implement while completing on the job training.
While completing on the job training, our qualified assessors visit your workplace to review the learning progress and conduct assessment.
This Cert II in Hospitality course is available in two formats:
- Classroom training at our Sydney training centre with work placement which we organise for students.
- On the job training through your workplace.
If completing the Cert II in Hospitality course at our training centre, the Cert II in Hospitality course is delivered over 14 weeks.
- Week 1-10 includes 3 days of classroom training each week starting at 9am and concludes at 5pm.
- Week 11-14 will be on the job training at a venue which we arrange for the student.
If completing the Cert II in Hospitality course through on the job training at your workplace, we will arrange for a learning pack to be sent to you for all the learning and assessment which is to be completed.

This course is run each term:
- Term 3 - Classroom starts Monday 17th July - finishes Wednesday 20th September
- Term 4 - Classroom starts Monday 9th October - finishes Wednesday 20th December

The Cert II in Hospitality course offers students different ways to complete learning and assessment.
If completing the classroom training, assessment will be conducted in the classroom, then additional assessments will occur in the workplace when completing on the job training.
If completing the course through your workplace, assessments must be submitted for marking, plus additional assessments will occur in the workplace.
All assessments must be completed within 12 months of the commencement date.
Students will be provided access to an online learning portal which will support their learning and assessment. Students can download assessment material and upload completed activities for assessor marking.

The Cert II in Hospitality course requires a good level of literacy–speaking, reading and comprehension and writing. These skills are necessary for a person working in a hospitality role.
Our enrolment process requires students to complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment to ensure they meet the minimum LLN requirements for the course. We want to make sure the selected program is not above the learners capabilities to participate.
Once a competent mark is awarded for all units, learners will be issued with a qualification for SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality. This qualification is Nationally Recognised Training.
