This Advanced First Aid course deals with the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
The Advanced First Aid course applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings:
- Emergency response teams
- Tour leaders
- School sport first responders
- Ski patrol teams
- Medical professionals
If organising a onsite training, we can facilitate the Advanced First Aid training nationally.
It is important to note that this HLTAID006 Advanced First Aid course requires a level of physical ability to complete practical assessments. If your health or fitness restricts you from performing physical activities associated with this program, you will be able to participate but may not be eligible for a nationally accredited certificate.

This HLTAID006 Advanced First Aid course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. Online pre-study requirements
Online study requires access to the following resources to complete the pre-study for this Advanced First Aid course:
- Internet connection
- Speakers or headphones
Students will be assessed during the classroom session. Assessment will confirm knowledge and skills have been achieved to demonstrate competency across the unit.
Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills throughout the Advanced First Aid Course.
If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the Advanced First Aid course at the full course fee.
There are 4 components to this program:
- Pre-study and assessments
- Theory training in the classroom
- Practical training in the classroom
- Assessment for both knowledge and skills
Students should allow up to six (6) hours for the pre-study to be completed. If you have completed HLTAID006 Advanced First Aid training in the past, you may be able to complete the pre-study assessments in a shorter time frame.
Students must have a current first aid certificate prior to enrolment. A copy can be uploaded into the student portal or a copy can be presented to the trainer on the day.
The classroom session is a 8hr program including breaks.
Once a competent mark is issued for all assessment activities, learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid issued by Surf Life Saving NSW (RTOID 90394).
Advanced First Aid certificates are emailed to students however hard copy is available for additional fee.
