An Occupational First Aid course covers 3 units of competency, including the HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid, HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation and HLTAID008 Manage
first aid services and resources.
This Occupational First Aid course is mostly designed for the workplace first aid officers who have to manage first aid equipment. It covers
the advanced first aid units providing the knowledge and skill in advanced life support plus the knowledge and skill for performing
risk assessment for equipment requirements.
This Occupational First Aid course is suited to all persons, including:
- Construction workers
- General office environments
- Warehouse and manufacturing
- Remote work stations
- Mining and marine work sites
If organising a group booking or onsite training,
we can facilitate the Occupational First Aid training nationally.
This Occupational First Aid course requires students to have a first aid certificate before enroling into the program. If you do not have one, we deliver first aid courses weekly.
It is important to note that this Occupational First Aid course requires a level of physical ability to complete practical assessments.
If your health or fitness restricts you from performing physical activities associated with this program, you will be able to participate
but may not be eligible for a nationally accredited certificate.

This Occupational First Aid course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the
best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language,
Literacy or Numeracy skills, please contact our office on 02 9232 1010 to discuss your training needs.
Students will be assessed from the pre-study and classroom session. Assessment will confirm knowledge and skills have been achieved to
demonstrate competency across the units.
Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills throughout the Occupational First Aid Course.
If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to resit the Occupational First Aid course.
There are 4 components to this program:
- Pre-study and assessments
- Theory training in the classroom
- Practical training in the classroom
- Assessment for both knowledge and skills
Students should allow up to six (6) hours for the pre-study to be completed. If you have completed first aid training
in the past, you may be able to complete the pre-study assessments in a shorter time frame.
The classroom session is an 8hr program including breaks.

Online pre-study requirements
Online study requires access to the following resources to complete the pre-study for this course:
- Internet connection
- Speakers or headphones
Once a competent mark is awarded, learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid, HLTAID007
Provide advanced resuscitation and HLTAID008 Manage first aid services and resources issued by Surf Life Saving NSW (RTOID 90394).
Occupational First Aid certificates are emailed to students however a hard copy is available for additional fee.
First Aid FAQs
Do I have to do a Resuscitation Course every year?
You are not legally required to complete a resuscitation course each year. It is recommended, however, by the Australian Resuscitation Council. By taking
a course every year, you will be able to demonstrate your resuscitation skills on a regular basis. Depending on which industry you work in, you may
be required to take an annual CPR refresher course in order to comply with industry regulations or licensing requirements. TCP recommends that you
do a refresher course every year so that you can keep up with any new techniques that are introduced and to ensure that you can effectively perform
I completed a First Aid Certificate a few years ago, do I have to do the whole Course again?
Yes, first aid knowledge and skills are frequently changed so you need to complete a new course to ensure you are up to date with any changes.
My First Aid Certificate expired 2 months ago, am I still current?
Unfortunately no, you will need to complete another first aid course.
What is the difference between Apply First Aid and Senior First Aid?
Previously, the Senior First Aid course was approved by SafeWork NSW for delivery. Now, first aid approval is only issued to Registered Training Organisations
(RTO) by each state’s registering body. The most current version of the course is titled Apply First Aid HLTFA301B.
Why does my Certificate need to be renewed every three years?
It is a requirement in most states and territories that a workplace first aider must renew their first aid certificate at least every three years to ensure that first aid skills are current.
Can Centrelink pay for me?
What you need to do is register with your local Job Network Agent. Your Employment Consultant will make the booking with us on your behalf and arrange payment with us directly. Unfortunately Centrelink does not pay directly.
Can I pay my package in installments?
Unfortunately we cannot offer this service, full payment of course fees are required at the time of booking. The good news is that we try to always offer value for money and keep course fees affordable, so you know that you are always getting good value, especially with our package deals which offer reduced prices!
Can you get me a job?
Although we cannot guarantee you a job, we would be delighted to refer you to an agent who may be able to assist you to find work.
What if I have trouble with written/spoken english for a Course?
Most courses will permit a student to bring a friend to interpret for them during training. If you do need assistance, we ask that you contact first before
booking your course so we can advise if there are any restrictions. For example, Forklift training requires students to complete all assessments in
If the course permits, you may bring a friend along to the course or, alternatively, you can phone the National Translation service to book an interpreter.

What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made at the time of booking using either a credit card, EFTPOS or cash. Invoices and acceptance of company cheques is by prior arrangement only.
