Course Details - We use real alcohol in our Bartender course! Most training companies do not.
TCP Training is proud to present our Bartender course. In our 2.5 day program, you will learn everything you need to know about working in a bar.
The Bartender course consists of 2 days of training in a our custom built bar with the addition of approximately 2-4 hours of online pre-study.
Students will complete some online learning before participating in practical and theory training in the bar which is equipped with the same products that you would be expected to work with in any hospitality venue. At the end of the Bartender course, you will leave us with all the knowledge and skills needed to start your successful career in Hospitality!
Within this Bartender course, you will complete 5 different skill courses.
During the Bartender course, you will learn:
- Barista - Make killer coffee like a pro!
- Operate a bar - Operate, make drinks and manage a bar!
- Food & hygiene - Safe practices for your customers!
- Food & beverage - 5 star preparation and service!
- Cocktails - Build world famous drinks likes a veteran!
BARISTA: This section of the Bartender course will teach you how to extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines. You will learn all about coffee beverages and how to select and grind coffee beans, prepare and assess espresso coffee beverages and use, maintain and clean espresso machines.
OPERATE A BAR: This section of the Bartender course will teach you how to prepare a bar for service, take drink orders, prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and close the bar down.
FOOD & HYGIENE: This section of the Bartender course teaches you how to use personal hygiene best practices to prevent contamination of food that might cause food-borne illnesses. It requires the ability to follow predetermined organisational procedures and to identify and control food hazards.
FOOD & BEVERAGE: This section of the Bartender course will teach you the skills needed to serve food and beverages to customers in a casual dining setting. It covers all of the fundamental technical skills that you will be expected to have in order to prepare the venue for the service period, interact with customers to take orders, serve and clear food and beverages and to complete end of service tasks.
COCKTAILS: This section of the Bartender course will teach you how to prepare and serve a range of cocktails. You will be assessed on your ability to promote, prepare and present attractive cocktails and experiment with ideas to develop new cocktail recipes.
If organising staff training or onsite training, we can facilitate the Bartender training nationally.
As alcohol is present, students must be 18+ years old to attend the course. We also recommend students obtain a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate if looking to gain employment in the hospitality industry. If you are interested, you can book a course online here with us.
Students will also need internet connection & computer to complete the short online home study.
It is important to note that this Bartender course requires a level of physical ability to complete practical training and assessments. If your health or fitness restricts you from performing physical activities associated with this program, you will not be able to complete this Bartender course. This includes making beverages, standing for long periods of time, cleaning surfaces and preparing tables for food service.
This Bartender course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are

Students will be assessed through the classroom sessions and home study. Assessments will confirm knowledge and skills have been learned across the individual skill courses of this program.
The course will have specific theory and practical assessments to gather evidence of your knowledge. These may include multiple choice questions, verbal questioning and demonstration of skills in multiple scenarios.
If a student is not successful in completing one of the courses, they will need to rebook that course at the full course fee (approx. $100 per course).
This Bartender course is delivered over 2.5 days:
- Online pre-study completed in your own time before attending the classroom training (allow 4hrs )
- Day 1 - Tuesday - will be in class at our Sydney Training Bar
- Day 2 - Thursday - will be in class at our Sydney Training Bar
Each classroom session is an eight (8) hour program including break. With the Tuesday session starting at either 9am or 12 noon and the Thursday session starting at 9am.
This is a skills based program. The skills covered in this courses include food hygiene, bar operations, barista, food and beverage & cocktail making.
Once a student completes the full course, learners will be issued with a certificate of completion for all 5 skill courses.
Certificates are emailed to students however hard copy is available for additional fee.
- Can Centrelink pay for me?
What you need to do is register with your local Job Network Agent. Your Employment Consultant will make the booking with us on your behalf and arrange payment with us directly. Unfortunately Centrelink does not pay directly.
- Can I pay my package in installments?
Unfortunately we cannot offer this service, full payment of course fees are required at the time of booking. The good news is that we try to always offer value for money and keep course fees affordable, so you know that you are always getting good value, especially with our package deals which offer reduced prices!
- Can you get me a job?
Although we cannot guarantee you a job, we would be delighted to refer you to an agent who may be able to assist you to find work.
- What if I have trouble with written/spoken english for a Course?
Most courses will permit a student to bring a friend to interpret for them during training. If you do need assistance, we ask that you contact first before booking your course so we can advise if there are any restrictions. For example, Forklift training requires students to complete all assessments in English.
If the course permits, you may bring a friend along to the course or, alternatively, you can phone the National Translation service to book an interpreter. Visit the Immigration website for more information about help with translating.
- What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made at the time of booking using either a credit card, EFTPOS or cash. Invoices and acceptance of company cheques is by prior arrangement only.
- When is my booking confirmed?
Your booking is confirmed once we receive full payment of course fees. Unfortunately there are rare occasions where the course will sell out prior to you finalising payment. In this situation a member of our customer service team will get in contact to organise an alternate training date.
The cost for this Bartender course is $299 per person. Full price for courses individually is $540, so that’s a huge saving of over $240!
