The Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set Course is one of the two most common traffic courses students complete to gain employment in the Traffic Management industry.

This Traffic Management Course allows you to set up and prepare a site as opposed to only using the stop/slow bat. If that work location
is a construction site, you will need a White Card (to be on a construction site).
By completing the Traffic Control Course (Combo) you can increase your chances of gaining employment.
Legislation requires renewal or refresher training every three (3) years.
If organising staff training or onsite training, we can facilitate the Traffic Management training nationally.
Student must provide 100 points of ID on the day of the course.
Participants must be 17 years of age and above.
It is important to note that this Traffic Management course requires a level of physical ability to complete practical assessments. If your health or fitness restricts you from performing physical activities associated with this program, you will not be able to complete this course.
TCP Training and Affirm Training are not registered with CRICOS, as such we are unable to conduct training and assessment for those with study restrictions on their visa. Visa with study restrictions include but are not limited to the International Student Visa (subclass 500), you can check the entitlements of your visa here.
This Traffic Management course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best
possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language, Literacy

All students must complete the theory and practical training prior to going onto a live site to complete the workplace assessment and final sign off. Before students are able to book in their live site assessment they must complete a third party on the job assessment. Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills throughout the program.
If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the Traffic Management course at the full course fee.
Students must :
Wear appropriate PPE (students can be turned away for failure to wear appropriate PPE):
- Safety Boots (joggers/sneakers are unacceptable)
- Long sleeve shirt
- Long pants (tights are unacceptable)
- Sun and rain protection as required
There are 4 steps to the Traffic Management course:
- Day 1 - Theory training in the classroom
- Day 1 - Practical training in a simulated work environment/live road
- Complete all assessment workbooks (usually in class)
- Assessment conducted on a real worksite/live project
We will provide all students with reading materials and assessment packs, including instructions detailing the evidence and documents each

After your training is successfully completed, you will be issued with a Roads Maritime Services (RMS) Statement of Completion which allows you to take this to a real worksite and complete the workplace assessment (see details below).
The Statement of Completion is valid for 90 days from theory and training day. You are allowed one extension Statement of Completion, a fee of $35 will be payable to be issued with another Statement of Completion. Please contact Affirm Training to discuss the requirements for extension.
Once you have been issued a Statement of Completion, you are eligible to work within its period of validity.
Students also receive Statements of Attainment for the following Units of Comptency:
- RIIWHS201D – Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
- RIICOM201D – Communicate in the workplace
- RIIWHS302D – Implement traffic management plan
Submitting your assessment evidence
We strongly recommend that all students keep a copy of the documentation they complete and collect for their assessment submissions.
Granville Training & Assessment
Weekly Traffic Management courses will be conducted on a Tuesday or Friday.
The training schedule is as per the below:
- Step 1 – Attend theory and practical training days – 7:30am – 5pm
- Complete all assessment workbooks
- Complete all assessment workbooks
- Step 2 – Book practical assessment at Homebush Bay
At the classroom training session, we will provide you with various student workbooks. These workbooks must be completed before you can book the practical assessment to finalise your course.
Once all training and assessment workbooks have been completed, students will need to call Affirm Training to book the practical assessment. Before students are able to book in their live site assessment they must complete a third party on the job assessment. Book a spot with our partner company to complete practical assessment at Homebush Bay (Sydney Olympic Park) at a live work site.To book your assessment day, please call Affirm Training on 02 9699 7711.
Homebush assessment is conducted in partnership with ACES Group, trading as Affirm Training (RTO 90024).

After successfully completing all the training and practical assessment requirements, you will need provide Affirm Training a copy of your paperwork. Once marked competent, we will lodge the application to Roads Maritime Service for your licence to be posted to you.
NOTE: Licences take up to 4 weeks to arrive in the post from Roads Maritime Services. Please consider this as your Statement of Completion may expire before the certificate is issued.
Each successful student a Statement of Attainment which is a nationally recognised certificate. One Statement of Attainment will be issued for each unit of competency which is successfully completed.
This course is delivered by Affirm Training with certificates issued by Affirm Training (RTOID: 90024).

- Do I require a White Card for this training?
Participants must have white card prior the attending training.
- How long is my licence valid for?
Your licence will be valid for a 3 year period. We recommend you apply to get re-certified before it expires.
- How long is my Statement of Completion (SOC) valid for?
A Statement of Completion (SOC) is valid for 90 days. This allows individuals to work & gain experience within this time period. Note your SOC must be in date to undertake the practical assessment on a live worksite.
- What can I do as a Traffic Controller?
Traffic Controllers gain the skills & knowledge to stop/direct road users using a stop/slow bat and understand stopping sight distances. If you are new to the industry, we recommend undertaking the Combo course to further increase prospects of employment.
- What can I do with Implement Traffic Control Plans?
Individuals will gain the ability to set up and close down traffic control devices & signage according to a nominated TCGS/TCP, to WHS and legislative requirements. This training is suited to those who have Traffic Controller experience and wish to further their career within the traffic control/management industry.
- What happens if my Statement of Completion (SOC) has expired?
If your SOC has passed its 90 day period of validity, you can no longer use this for work purposes. Please contact our team or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your options.
- What if my licence has been lost or stolen?

- When do I get my licence?
Once a student completes their final practical assessment successfully, the photocard licence can take up to 3 weeks to arrive in the post from Roads Maritime Services NSW.
- Can Centrelink pay for me?
What you need to do is register with your local Job Network Agent. Your Employment Consultant will make the booking with us on your behalf and arrange payment with us directly. Unfortunately Centrelink does not pay directly.
- Can I pay my package in installments?
Unfortunately we cannot offer this service, full payment of course fees are required at the time of booking. The good news is that we try to always offer value for money and keep course fees affordable, so you know that you are always getting good value, especially with our package deals which offer reduced prices!
- Can you get me a job?
Although we cannot guarantee you a job, we would be delighted to refer you to an agent who may be able to assist you to find work.
- What if I have trouble with written/spoken english for a Course?
Most courses will permit a student to bring a friend to interpret for them during training. If you do need assistance, we ask that you contact first before booking your course so we can advise if there are any restrictions. For example, Forklift training requires students to complete all assessments in English.
If the course permits, you may bring a friend along to the course or, alternatively, you can phone the National Translation service to book an interpreter. Visit the Immigration website for more information about help with translating.
- What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made at the time of booking using either a credit card, EFTPOS or cash. Invoices and acceptance of company cheques is by prior arrangement only.
- When is my booking confirmed?
Your booking is confirmed once we receive full payment of course fees. Unfortunately there are rare occasions where the course will sell out prior to you finalising payment. In this situation a member of our customer service team will get in contact to organise an alternate training date.
